Elections Matter: California Superintendent of Public Instruction

I am going to ask you to vote for educational freedom and change.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Lance Christensen for a while.  The longer I’ve known him, the more impressed I’ve become regarding his integrity, drive, work ethic, passion for California’s schoolchildren and expertise in education.

He’s done it all.  A happily married father of five who started out 20 years ago as a 4th grade school teacher, then became a leading legislative staffer to the VP of a recognized nonprofit to a staunch advocate for school choice, Lance Christensen has a sterling resume and formidable integrity. He’s a bold visionary who will take California schools from where they are now to where they ought to be.

It is difficult to admit, but California’s educational system is broken and our schools are failing.  California is dead last in literacy. Our 8th graders are reading at the 5th grade level. Graduation rates are in a free fall.  And while the pandemic impacted schools in every state, California schools were shut down longer than any other state. Teachers are leaving California for greener pastures. Our quality of life and economic dynamism are in serious jeopardy. And our charter schools are barely hanging on against the assault from the state.

You and I share these things in common:

  • We believe passionately in the power of education.
  • We believe fervently in the importance of empowered parents.
  • We are alarmed at the poor state of education in California.

Additionally, we feel duty-bound to give empowered parents the choice in selecting their children’s schools because our goal is educational excellence for our schoolchildren and…

California’s #1 opponent of parental choice is the last person we want in office.

The current Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond, has had four years to show us what he can do.  It’s a record of failed leadership. Our school children deserve better. Our parents deserve to be front-and-center in educational decisions and right now they’re not. Billions of taxpayer dollars – your hard-earned money – is being spent for a multitude of failures.

I believe California’s voters have learned from their mistake in electing Tony Thurmond to lead out the state’s schools into such dismal failure. I support my friend and one of California’s foremost experts, Lance Christensen, with all my might.

He’ll be outspent. The powerful teachers unions will make sure of that. But voters are fed up and frustrated.  Parents are angry and disgusted.  Students are shortchanged and falling behind. With your good help and mine, Lance Christensen will win.

The best thing we can do for our state is elect him Superintendent of Public Instruction.  The smartest thing we can do for ourselves is invest in his campaign.  Please join me in supporting Lance Christensen by following this link.

It is bold to face the stern questions of our time without fear while too many would hold back and let their children be persons of social experimentation over the natural rights of parents. As Churchill said in his Christmas Eve Speech of 1941, “Let the children have their night of fun and laughter… Let us grown-ups share to the full in their unstinted pleasures before we turn again to the stern task and the formidable years that lie before us, resolved that, by our sacrifice and daring, these same children shall not be robbed of their inheritance or denied their right to live in a free and decent world.”
